Accommodated Testing

Accommodated Testing

Brand divider line.

The OU Testing Center is collaborating with the Accessibility and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) to provide a centralized testing space for in-person accommodated exams. Students registered with the ADRC and receiving testing accommodations must speak with their instructor about their exams.

Instructors can choose to provide testing accommodations by using a departmental testing space (if applicable) or students can reserve a seat with the OU Testing Center.  Students will use RegisterBlast, a registration system that allows students to use a single sign-on (OU 4x4) and choose which accommodations they want to use for their exam appointment.

Instructors must send exam materials at least 3 business days before the test date. Students must reserve their seats at least 3 days before their scheduled test.  If a student shows up at the center and we do not have the exam, we will ask the student to reach out to the professor.  The professor will need to allow the student to reschedule and send the exam to the Testing Center.

Professors:

All exam materials and proctoring forms need to be sent to the OU Testing Center at testing@ou.edu.   You are also welcome to call 405-325-1921 with any questions.

Accommodations for Extended Time on Exams

  • Online Exams – Your professor will add your additional exam time in Canvas
    • Before starting your exam, check your amount of time on the screen to confirm it is correct.
    • If your time is incorrect, do not click start!  The Testing Center staff will notify your professor.
  • Paper Exams – Your professor will note your additional time on the Exam Proctor form. Confirm your additional time with a Testing Center staff member while checking in for your appointment.
  • Scheduling an Exam Appointment with Extended Time – All exams, regardless of time, must be completed by the Testing Center’s closing time. Schedule your appointment with enough time to accommodate your entire extended time.
  • If your exam time runs past our closing time, you will not be admitted to the test.

Accommodations for Distraction-Reduced Testing

  • Reduced Distraction does not mean no distractions.
  • Our center does not offer private testing rooms.
  • Testing is done in one large room so please Inform the staff at check-in that you would prefer to be seated away from other students.
  • Please note that this may not be possible during busy times (such as midterms and finals weeks)
  • All desks offer noise-cancelling headphones.

Faculty Resources For Accommodated Students

The OU Testing Center offers exam-proctoring services to assist faculty and students who have difficulty finding space in their department or time to proctor extended-time tests for students who receive that accommodation through the ADRC.

* Please note that our office provides test proctoring services for courses where the exams are proctored in person. If the exam is online with no in-person proctor required,  our office would not proctor those exams.

  • To submit exam materials to the Testing Center, please download the Exam Proctoring Form (pdf) and submit it along with all materials to testing@ou.edu at a minimum of 72 hours before the expected test date.
    • Professors are welcome to bring exam materials to 300 Kellogg Drive, Room 140 if they wish.
    • Exam materials will be emailed back to the professor within 48 hours UNLESS they state they are picking exam materials up.
  • Professors are not notified by our scheduling system when a student makes an appointment but we will notify you if a student does not show up for their exam. We do not reach out to students to schedule their appointments. Students should be directed to the OU Testing Center website to schedule.
  • If a student comes to take their exam and we do not have it, the student is expected to reach out to the professor and may need to reschedule.
