Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society

Alpha Lambda Delta’s mission is to encourage superior academic achievement, promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society.

Join Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society!

Estabished in 1927, the OU chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society recognizes academic achievements of first-year students. Joining can open doors for you and offer opportunities to stand out, be recognized, and enjoy a more well-rounded college experience.

First-year students who earn a 3.5 OU GPA or higher and have completed 12 hours or more in their first semester at OU will receive an email invitation to join Alpha Lambda Delta. If you have questions about this invitation or joining ALD, or if you did not receive an invitation and believe you meet the requirements, please email ald@ou.edu.

Membership in ALD

Invitations to join Alpha Lambda Delta are emailed each semester to qualified potential members. If you believe you are eligible for membership and did not receive an invitation through your OU email account, please email us at ald@ou.edu. If you are inquiring about membership eligibility, please email your OU student ID number to verify potential member eligibility more quickly.

The ALD Point System

University of Oklahoma ALD chapter members can earn service and membership points by participating in ALD activities, service projects, and events. These points are used in part to assess how active members are in the OU chapter for scholarship purposes.

To view your points standing, please check the Alpha Lambda Delta page on Canvas.

Earning Points

There are a number of service events and opportunities that chapter members can become involved in to help out the university and surrounding community. For further information on any of these events contact our Service Chair listed under the Executive Council tab. All service events and projects count towards your service points total.

Another fun way to earn points is to attend our general meetings and social events. Our chapter holds several meetings and social events throughout the semester, and attending these activities is a great way to learn about upcoming events, meet other ALD members, and build your community on campus. Attending meetings and social events counts towards your membership points total.

You will need to earn both membership and service points to be eligible to apply for our local and national scholarships.

Important Notice Regarding Service Events

If you sign-up for a service event and do not attend, you will receive a 1-point deduction. In order to avoid this deduction, please give us at least a 24-hour notice by email (ald@ou.edu) sharing your legitimate excuse for no longer being able to attend. This just allows us ample time to assess numbers with the organization with which we are serving.

ALD Scholarships and Awards

Joining Alpha Lambda Delta not only provides students with an opportunity to serve their community and network with like-minded people, but it also provides it's members with scholarship opportunities throughout their undergraduate and even graduate careers.
