Mandi Peterman has been a member of the OU community for over three years. While her Texas roots are strong, she and her family have become loyal Sooners, attending campus events and promoting The University near and far. She is dedicated to the vision and values that have been an integral part of OU for well over a century. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She has been part of the Academic Success Center's (formerly University College) growth and expansion by overseeing UC's Student Leadership Board and, currently, leading our ASC Team student leadership committee. Assistant Peterman supports our Associate Provost, oversees the University's Advising Records Office, facilitates unit events and programs, and works tirelessly with ASC department leaders on other activities and programming throughout the year. Her goal is to see the programs and services of ASC and, ultimately, the students of The University of Oklahoma succeed in all they do.
I love taking a scenic walk on pretty days to Campus Corner with ASC students and coworkers to grab lunch from Tea Cafe with a quick caffenation detour to Starbucks on the way back.
In my work with students I am able to learn about their different life experiences and how those experiences shaped who they have come to be today. Knowing these things helps me to better serve and guide them as they develop into the innovative and considerate leaders they strive to be tomorrow.
Don't overschedule yourself. It's great to have many interests and to pursue them, but be mindful of how much time you actually have because your personal health and your academic journey are paramount. It's okay to say no to things sometimes, even if they're good things. You will have plenty of opportunities to be involved in great events and organizations during your time at the university so pace yourself.
