Museum Of Modern Art Curator To Speak at OU

Curator and architectural historian Barry Bergdoll will present a public lecture.

Nationally recognized curator and architectural historian Barry Bergdoll will present a complimentary public lecture on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the University of Oklahoma Norman campus.

“Out of Site/In Plain View: The History and Urgency of the Architecture Exhibition” is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the Mary Eddy and Fred Jones Auditorium at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. The lecture is sponsored by the OU College of Architecture and the Bruce Goff Chair of Creative Architecture Lecture Series. 

Bergdoll is the Meyer Schapiro Professor of Modern Architectural History at Columbia University and, until recently, a curator in the Department of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. He served at MoMA as the Philip Johnson Chief Curator of Architecture and Design from 2007 to 2013, where he organized, curated and consulted on several major exhibits of 19th and 20th century architecture, including “Le Corbusier: An Atlas of Modern Landscapes,” with Jean-Louis Cohen (2013); “Henri Labrouste: Structure Brought to Light” (2013) with Corinne Bélier and Marc LeCoeur; “Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream” with Reinhold Martin (2012); and “Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling” (2008).
