Medical Degree: Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Residency Training: Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine-Family Medicine, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Special Interests: Community Medicine (especially the uninsured and underinsured populations) and sports event medicine

I began my career at the Creek Nation Community Hospital in Okemah while, at the same time, working in several area emergency departments. I joined OU-Tulsa in 2004, accepting a position as Medical Director for the Bedlam and Community Health clinics. This is a public-private partnership providing care to the medically underserved through public housing and school-based clinics and free, student-run clinics. I am actively involved in training medical students, PA students, and residents in both the classroom and clinical settings, providing an opportunity for young physicians to gain an understanding of community medicine.

Volunteerism is a very important part of my life – I have worked with Hurricane Katrina evacuees, traveled nationally and internationally as a physician for Special Olympics Team USA, and volunteered for a number of local sports events such as Tulsa Tough, Fleet Feet events, Boulder Dash and serving as Medical Director for the Route 66 Marathon. When I am not at work, I spend time with my dogs, family and friends, enjoy cycling with the St. Francis Tulsa Tough Divas and cheer for my OSU Cowboys!!!

Why OU-Tulsa? The dean of OU-Tulsa helped me understand my passion for community medicine and realize the opportunities to practice and teach it.
