Multicultural Programs and Services offers a wide range of programming every year focused on engaging all students with opportunities to learn about the many cultures represented on campus. With guidance from the Office of Student Life, we strive to enhance the OU experience and assist students in their personal and professional goals through Community, Leadership, and Advocacy.
Our mission is to create, sustain, promote, and affirm scholarship, culture, history, and leadership. We strive to cultivate an experience that supports and guides students to become the best versions of themselves and reach their personal and academic goals through educational experiences, professional development, community building, and programming.
Multicultural Programs and Services is home to four communities that support students at the University of Oklahoma. We welcome all members of the university community to our events!
The African American Programs and Services mission is to create, sustain, promote, and affirm Black scholarship, culture, history, and leadership. Through the coordination of educational, professional development, and cultural programming that builds affinity through institutional support, we strive to cultivate an experience that supports and guides students to the best versions of themselves in their personal and academic goals.
Asian American Programs and Services strives to provide motivation, encouragement, guidance, and support to all Asian American and Pacific Islander students as they matriculate to graduation. Through campus and community involvement, mentorship, leadership development, cultural awareness & support, we guide students to grow and develop through active participation towards their educational journey and goals.
AIPS is dedicated to creating a community that supports the retention and graduation of students identifying with Indigenous identities. Through personal, professional, and educational opportunities, we guide and support Indigenous students to achieve their educational and personal goals.
The mission of LPS is to cultivate a community that provides support to students identifying with Latinx/a/o, Afro-Latinx/a/o, Indigenous, and Multiracial heritages. LPS offers students and the broader OU community engagement in educational, professional, and personal opportunities that honor and celebrate the cultural richness of the Latinx/a/o community.
While Multicultural Programs and Services does not oversee International Student Services, we work with them closely throughout the year and they are a valued partner. International Student Services is part of the College of International Studies.
Each Multicultural Programs and Services unit hosts an annual scholarship pageant. These pageants takes place during the spring semester and contestants compete in several on-stage categories and an interview with judges prior to the event. Crowned royalty serve the community for a full academic year. The pageants showcases contestants' passion for scholarship, service, and cultural awareness.
