The Norman campus is comprised of many facilities. Reservations are required for each area.

Academic Spaces

Many spaces dedicated to academics have reservable areas when not serving as a classroom. Below are common academic facilities.

Bizzell Memorial Library is located in the center of campus, east of the clock tower. Resources and services available to students, faculty and staff include:

  • Research help
  • Textbooks on Reserve
  • Computer workstations
  • Technology lending
  • Quiet and group study spaces

Centrally Controlled Classrooms

The Office of Campus Scheduling processes all central classroom reservations.

Additional Reservable Classroom Space

Any other classrooms must be requested directly through the managing department of the space as listed here.

Activity Centers

These buildings are dedicated to providing space for student and university events and activities.

There are multiple spaces that can be reserved for meetings and events in the Housing & Residence Life area. Spaces range from large outdoor areas to theatres and dance studios.

Events may be held in these spaces between the hours of: Sun-Thur: 8 AM - 10 PM, Fri - Sun: 8:30 AM - 11:30 PM.

The Henderson-Tolson Cultural Center (HTCC) is designed to create educational, political, and/or social awareness regarding issues of diversity for the University community, celebrating a multi-cultural student body and meeting the facility needs of a University organization and student groups on campus.

Events may be held in the HTCC Monday-Thursday between the hours of 5 PM - 11 PM.

Events outside of these times will be charged an additional fee and must be approved through the offices of Campus Scheduling and Student Life.

The Jim Thorpe Multicultural Center (JTMC) is designed to create an educational and/or social awareness environment regarding issues of diversity for University of Oklahoma students, along with meeting the facility needs for University of Oklahoma registered student organizations.

Events may be held in the JTMC Monday-Thursday between the hours of 5 PM - 11 PM.

Events outside of these times will be charged an additional fee and must be approved through the offices of Campus Scheduling and Student Life.

The historic Oklahoma Memorial Union (OMU) features over 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space, ranging from intimate rooms and lounges for smaller events to outdoor venues and the 6,500 square foot ballroom for larger events and weddings.

Athletics Spaces

The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department manages all athletic venues on campus. Depending on home game schedules, some facilities may be reserved for special events.

The Lloyd Noble Center is an 11,562-seat multi-purpose arena that hosts many OU home sporting events as well as concerts and university events.

The MidFirst Bank Stadium Club spans the east side of the football stadium, featuring the stadium’s largest climate-controlled lounge space.

Located on the west side of the Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The large interior includes locations for large groups and provides a tremendous view of the stadium.

Conference & Event Spaces

The University of Oklahoma is host to many conferences throughout the year. Below are common locations for conferences.

The National Weather Center (NWC) is one of the most unique venues you’ll find to host your event. There are spaces of various sizes available throughout the building and most are equipped with the latest in presentation and conferencing technology.  Any event, from science symposiums to wedding receptions, will certainly be an event to remember when held in the National Weather Center.

The Thurman J. White Forum Building is an excellent location for your next meeting or event. The space is equipped with recently renovated audio and visual equipment including ceiling-mounted projectors, built-in screens, laptops and sound-systems in every room. Meetings and conferences benefit from complimentary Wi-Fi.

Fine Arts Spaces

OU is home to some exceptional arts facilities, including galleries, performance halls & auditoriums.

Give your guests a memorable experience by allowing them to explore the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art after-hours or between conference meeting sessions. The museum can host up to 2,000 people.

The Lightwell Gallery is located in the central atrium of the OU School of Visual Arts at the University of Oklahoma. It’s a large space, with an uninterrupted footprint of 20’ by 65’, and a unique 45’ high, sky-lit ceiling providing visibility from studios, offices, and hallways from one and two stories above the gallery floor.

The perfect setting for lectures, film screenings, award presentations and other events requiring a small stage, the Mary Eddy and Fred Jones Auditorium has 146 seats and space for up to four wheelchairs. Overflow seating is available for up to 40 people.

Historically known as Holmberg Hall this is Oklahoma’s only European-style performance hall located inside the Donald W. Reynolds Performing Arts Center and seats 677.

A grand, open space designed to hold contemporary art and accommodate larger groups, this gallery can seat up to 200 people.

Fitness Spaces

The Department of Fitness + Recreation manages both the on-campus fitness facility and the swim complex.

The MCSSC consists of an indoor and outdoor pool. The indoor pool is an eight-lane 25-yard lap pool with a 13-foot diving well with one 1-meter springboard. The outdoor facility consists of an Olympic-sized pool 50 meters by 25 yards with a 13-foot diving well and two 1-meter springboards as well as a kiddy pool. The outdoor lap pool ranges from 4’ to 5’6’’ deep and the indoor diving well ranges from 9’ to 13’.

The Sarkeys Fitness Center features: eight basketball/volleyball/badminton courts, four racquetball courts, a squash court, 1/6th mile indoor track, two large multi-purpose activity rooms, two weight room areas, a large cardio room with mounted flat-screen TVs, a climbing wall, a personal training room, and a massage therapy room.

Outdoor Spaces

Any outdoor space that is not managed by a specific building will be reserved through the Campus Scheduling office. Below are commonly reserved outdoor spaces.

Burr Park is the beautiful home to a central gazebo surrounded by full flowerbeds and many trees.

Tabling on the South Oval is a popular way to publicize an upcoming event. Registered student organizations and OU departments may reserve tabling space on the South Oval, using the OU Reserve portal.

The Van Vleet Oval, commonly referred to as the South Oval, is the central green space on the Norman campus. This space is often the site for large, outdoor, university events.

Also known as the Passion Pit, the Unity Garden is a sunken-in area on the South Oval. It's often the place where groups gather for meetings and protests

Visitor Center

If you are interested in visiting the campus, the best place to start is at the Visitor Center. Contact this office for more information on tours.
