Please join us, Friday October 12, for the 2018 MIS Cup event, where there will be lots of fun to be had, as well as prizes.
The MIS Cup is a programming competition, recommended to all OU students who are interested in Management Information Systems (MIS). You will present your completed skills on Friday, October 12 at 9 AM at Price College of Business to a panel of judges.
Each team will be comprised of 3 - 5 students and will create an Alexa skill(s) to help the experience of students on campus. These skills can focus on helping students achieve better academic success, increase student retention rate, help with community engagement, or whatever else your team can come up with that would be beneficial for OU students. There will be optional sessions provided to help students create their Alexa skill(s) as well as current MIS students to help mentor in the creation of these skills. This means, you do not need to have any programming knowledge whatsoever or any knowledge of how to create an Alexa skill, we will teach you!
No prior knowledge of Alexa Skills or programming required. This is an opportunity for students to see what you can do with an MIS degree as well as help build your network with organizations. Your skill does not have to be 100% implemented, it should be at the very least a workable Proof of Concept (POC)
We will hold meetings the second week of October, where your groups can come and see walk-throughs of how to create skills as well meet with mentors to help you succeed in your project creations!
A special thanks to our sponsors, Pioneer Natural Resources, and Phillips 66 !
