Portrait of Jack Stagg.

While in President’s Community Scholars, students are exposed to a variety of people from various backgrounds. This was especially true for Jack Stagg who eventually met his wife through PCS! Jack graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2019 with his bachelor’s in sports management and now serves as a partner with Edison Wealth Strategies in Tulsa, Okla. We reached out to Jack to see what he’s been up to since PCS.
Q: How did PCS impact your undergraduate experience?
Jack: PCS gave me a reliable community to be around with great values and purpose. I was exposed to a diverse group of people who all had a desire to be servant leaders. PCS also gave me 1 hour per week to learn from outstanding individuals. No matter how crazy my weeks in college were, PCS gave me a place to grow and learn how to become a better leader. This experience isn’t something that I couldn’t get in a classroom or on my own. There simply is not another opportunity like this community. PCS gave me some of my best friends who I still consider some of my greatest friends today—even my wife was in PCS! She was in the previous class, and we were introduced through a fellow PCS’er.
Q: What’s one piece of advice you would give to the current and incoming PCS classes?
Jack: If there is someone you look up to or you want to get to know, take them for a cup of coffee or get lunch together. It’s easy to “kind of know” a lot of people, but to make great friends takes time and intentionality.
Q: What inspires you most about your work?
Jack: My job is to simply be a good friend. I get to build relationships—which is very special to me. On top of getting to build relationships, I get to serve those very people. I’m addicted to setting goals and achieving them. What inspires me even more than hitting my personal goals is seeing others achieve their goals.
Q: What are some words you live by?
Jack: Success rarely exceeds personal development. If you want to do something great, ASK for help and learn from the experience of others. Always be willing to give back to others when called upon.
