Climate Data and Information

  • American Association of State Climatologists: Links to other state climate offices and regional climate centers.
  • National Centers for Environmental Information: Assesses and monitors climate variation and change, and provides access to global climate and weather related data and information generated by the national and international meteorological services.
  • Southern Regional Climate Center: Conducts an array of climate research and provides climate data services, climate summaries, and decision support tools to Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
  • Climate Prediction Center: Provides a variety of climate information for the United States such as 6–10 day, 8–14 day, one-month, and three-month outlooks on precipitation and temperature, as well as hazard and drought assessments.
  • Climate.gov: NOAA’s portal to national and global climate information and products
  • South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center: Provides decision makers with the science, tools, and information they need to address the impacts of climate variability and change on their areas of responsibility.
  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change: Reviews and assesses scientific, technical, and socio-economic information produced worldwide. It is the international leader on summarizing (not conducting) research on climate change.
  • U.S. Global Change Research Program: Coordinates and integrates U.S. governmental research on changes in the global environment and their implications for society.

Local Partner Agencies and Organizations

  • National Weather Center: A host to academic, research, and operational programs in weather and climate, including University of Oklahoma, state, and federal organizations.
  • University of Oklahoma School of Meteorology: A leading academic and research program, focusing on meteorological, atmospheric, and climate studies.
  • University of Oklahoma Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability: Focuses on individual and collective research, teaching, and service activities that advance the understanding of the natural and social processes of earth's surface.
  • Oklahoma Water Resources Board: Aims to manage, protect, and improve Oklahoma's water resources through information on water quality standards, mapping, monitoring, safety, permitting, and licensing.
  • Oklahoma Biological Survey: As part of of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma, analyzes and disseminates information about Oklahoma's animal and plant forms and ecological communities.
  • Oklahoma Geological Survey: The state agency responsible for investigating the state's land, water, mineral, and energy resources and disseminating the results.
  • Oklahoma Archaeological Survey: Researches Oklahoma's archeological record in hopes to preserve significant sites, resources, and disseminate information to advance education.
  • Norman NOAA Weather Partners: Federal government organizations involved in severe weather research, forecasting and support.
