OADII Leadership and staff participated in “AERO Oklahoma” Aviation, Aerospace and Defense Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol on March 30, 2022.
As AEROAmbassadors for the event, Lt Gen (ret) Gene Kirkland and Lt Gen (ret) Don Wetekam lead group tours and visits with state legislators. OADII staff along with Shad Satterthwaite, Director of the OU Executive Business Programs, Aerospace and Defense and Natalie Fix, Communications and Outreach Coordinator for the GeoCarb Mission Office shared a booth and provided information regarding their respective OU programs with visitors consisting of military, industry, collegiate and K-12 students, and state government members.
According to the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission, AERO Oklahoma Aviation & Aerospace Advocacy day is meant to recognize Oklahoma's aviation, aerospace and defense organizations as a vital part of the state's economy and provide a greater understanding of the impact aviation has on the lives of Oklahoma's citizens. Over 40 aerospace and defense companies were represented during the event.
