Innovation Through Partnerships

Oklahoma's aerospace and defense industries are rapidly expanding, significantly contributing to national defense in technology, supply chain optimization, and sustainable energy. Within Oklahoma University, and through the Office of Vice President for Research and Partnerships, the Oklahoma Aerospace and Defense Innovation Institute (OADII) enhances research by aligning with U.S. Government needs and focuses on Spectrum Dominance, Sustainment and Modernization Resiliency, Cyberspace and Information Dominance, and International Security Policy. OADII collaborates with various entities to drive technological advancements, commercialize OU-created intellectual property, and support economic and workforce development. The institute's partnerships and research efforts are crucial for maintaining a strategic advantage and ensuring national security.

The inaugural OU defense symposium featured a full day of discussion, including keynotes and panels on topics such as climate security, security implications of emerging technologies, warfare in the era of social media and Sino-Russia relations - implications on U.S. security.

The University of Oklahoma has received a $4.8 million commitment from the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex at Tinker Air Force Base to create a primer free of chromium containing materials to protect U.S. military aerospace equipment from corrosion.
