Campus Session Descriptions

During this time, you will meet one-on-one with an academic advisor. They will review your final high school transcripts, concurrent/dual work, AP/IB/CLEP courses and help advise you for the courses you need in your first semester as you work toward degree completion. These advisors are equipped to help guide you toward your academic goals, help curate a schedule, and assist you. At the end of this appointment, you will walk away with your first semester class schedule.

Guests are not allowed to attend this appointment and will have specific programming during this time while you are getting advised and enrolled. So, it’s imperative you prepare accordingly by bringing your final transcripts, scores, and complete your assessments.

A part of your academic journey and success is having a plan in place to pay for college. Our MidFirst MoneyCoaches are here to help you. During this time, you will receive information on FERPA, billing, bursars, scholarship information and requirements, and helpful tips. After, our MoneyCoaches will walk you and your family through your individual financial success plan and how to utilize this free tool! This is a great time to ask questions and secure your plan, as a family, for paying for OU.

Each student and their respective guests at NSO will be assigned to a group for the day with three Orientation Interns who are current OU students. We believe strongly in the OU Family and that starts with building new relationships and connecting! During this one-hour session, our Orientation Interns will guide you through what we call “Crimson Chaos,” help you navigate and understand one.ou.edu (home of your financial and academic record), and provide you a Canvas tutorial (the home of all information as it relates to your current academic courses). They will also equip you and your guests with key information and guidelines of the OU academic standard, as well as, help you prepare for academic success in college!

At OU, we recognize that a student’s success is contingent not only upon them, but their community. And more often than not, that starts with their supporters, family, and guardians. In this session with our Director of Parent & Family Programs, Tracy Carlson, parents and families will have the opportunity to learn about the resources, best practices, and events related to their new student and transition to OU. Whether your student is a first-generation college goer or a fifth generation Sooner, it’s important as the supporting unit, to know when, where and how to best communicate and assist in navigating your student’s tenure at their new home - the University of Oklahoma.

Explore the world while you are still enrolled at the University of Oklahoma! Studying abroad provides an opportunity to discover new cultures, broaden your perspective, and gain a competitive edge in a globalized workforce. 25% of OU students engage with global opportunities all over the world throughout their academic career. Immerse yourself in unique experiences, forge lifelong relationships and develop invaluable skills that will shape your future - without disrupting your academic and financial goals.. Register for this session to learn more about where YOU can go!

When you become a part of the OU Family, we want you to contribute your time and talent! That starts with Camp Crimson. Camp Crimson is an 5-day orientation experience that gives students the opportunity to connect with their new OU community. These days will be packed with engaging activities that will allow students to connect with their peers, get to know campus, learn about OU's history and traditions, complete their first-year trainings, connect with faculty and staff, and attend many amazing events. This session lays the footwork for starting at OU in a great way and gives you tools to find how to best get involved!

So much of your academic success is dependent on you! We have resources to help you be your best physically and emotionally. From the Sarkey’s Fitness Center and the array of workout machines and classes to our Goddard Health Center with a pharmacy, counseling services, and physician appointments available, we want you to be your best. This session will outline those resources to get you set up to feel great!
