NORMAN, OKLA. – OU Libraries, in partnership with the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education, has launched Single Case in the Social Sciences (SCSS) as an online publication. This journal is another example of University Libraries’ commitment to the accessibility of a wide range of scholastic resources.

“As open access initiatives continue to help shape the future of the university, OU Libraries’ is excited by this partnership and the shared space this journal provides to the research community,” said Nicholas Wojcik, scholarly publishing librarian and head of the OU Libraries Publishing Services program.

The journal Single Case in the Social Sciences publishes original experimental single-case studies, systematic reviews, and methods articles biannually to expand knowledge across applied behavior analysis, counseling, education, psychology, social work and related fields. The inaugural issue was released earlier this month, titled Using Brief Experimental Analysis to Compare the Effects of Reading Comprehension Interventions with a Middle School Student.

“Single Case in the Social Sciences is an international journal that brings together professionals across disciplines familiar with and using single-case research to provide a prominent platform for the dissemination of single-case research, which currently does not exist,” said Founding Editor and assistant professor of educational psychology Cian Brown. “In collaboration with OU Libraries, SCSS is an Open Access journal with no publishing costs, increasing the dissemination of single-case research and readily accessible to researchers, educators and practitioners.”

This new publication coincides with Open Access Week, observed from Oct. 21-25. This year’s theme is "Community over Commercialization," which celebrates how open access transforms scholarly communication. The week will be filled with interactive events held across the University Libraries, including a yarn craft, spin-the-wheel game and café discussion.
