NORMAN, OKLA. – Joe Dulin, the senior instructor of accounting and director of the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) Program at the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business, was recently recognized as an outstanding accounting educator by the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants.

“Winning the Outstanding Accounting Educator award is an incredible honor for me,” Dulin said. “It is a recognition that underscores the dedication and passion I have for teaching and mentoring the next generation of accountants.”

The OSPCA recognized Dulin at its award ceremony on Aug. 23. Honorees and award winners were “celebrated for their exceptional commitment and dedication to the accounting profession” while performing as leaders and standard-bearers within the state's accounting industry.

Several esteemed colleagues and leaders in the accounting field highlighted Dulin's accomplishments. Overall, the ceremony brought a greater sense of community and its commitment to excellence within accounting in Oklahoma.

“This award is not just a personal achievement; it’s a reflection of the hard work and commitment of the students I’ve had the privilege to teach, and the supportive environment provided by the Price College of Business,” Dulin added.

Dulin has been with the university for 12 years. After joining OU as an accounting instructor in 2012, he quickly rose to become the program coordinator of the MAcc Program in 2014. He has also served as the chief risk officer for OU. He teaches advanced accounting, and managerial accounting at the Steed School of Accounting, as well as property and casualty losses, cost accounting, and consolidations.

“Price has been instrumental in my career,” Dulin said. “It has provided me with the resources, support, and a collaborative environment that are essential for academic success. The college’s emphasis on innovation and leadership in business education has allowed me to grow as an educator and contribute meaningfully to our students’ professional development.”

While the present has benefited Dulin, his view of the future of accounting is promising. Dulin cites Price’s environment of nurturing talent as the main ingredient in ensuring Oklahoma’s and the region’s outlook.

“Price has established itself as a top business college in Oklahoma through its commitment to academic excellence, innovative programs, and a focus on real-world application of business principles,” Dulin said. “The college continuously adapts to the evolving landscape of business and accounting, ensuring that our students are not only well-prepared for the current job market but are also equipped to be leaders in their fields.

“From an educator’s point of view, the future of accounting in Oklahoma looks bright,” Dulin added.
