HSP Alumni Spotlight: Jessica Murphy

Class of 2015
HSP Alumni, Jessica Murphy.

Jessica Murphy spent the Fall 2013 semester in Beijing, China studying at Tsinghua University. Ms. Murphy took Chinese courses, rode her bike to school and lived with a Chinese roommate. On top of course, Ms. Murphy also had an internship with eBeijing, the official government website for the city of Beijing. During the semester Ms. Murphy traveled to Shanghai and Inner Mongolia, where she stayed in a yurt, rode camels and went sand sledding. When asked about what she gained from her experience Ms. Murphy replied,  "I figured out to navigate in a foreign language and immersed myself in a culture very different from my own. I also made incredible friends and we visited the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, 798 Art District, Beijing Design Week, Wangfujing and ate plenty of good food. My study abroad experience was amazing and I'm so glad I went." To the right is a picture of Ms. Murphy taken when she traveled to Inner Mongolia during her semester abroad.
