Dear Gaylord College Alumni and Friends,
When you read this, I will be retired from Gaylord College and the University of Oklahoma. Some thoughts on the subject….
Little did I know that returning to my hometown and OU in 2015 – after being away 28 years – would be so rewarding. Thank you, Ed Kelley, for making that happen. After much deep reflection, and the passing of a best friend, I retired effective, May 15.
My time within Gaylord College has been extraordinary. Interactions with donors, alumni, OU faculty and staff and students have provided opportunities – and a few challenges – that have allowed me great experiences and wonderful memories. My love for my alma mater has grown exponentially over the past 7+ years as has the chance to mentor and help Gaylord College students. The latter is what I will miss most about retiring.
It has been an honor to work with an incredibly talented alumni association board. I am proud of this group of alums who are multi-talented and committed to our college. Extraordinary and committed leaders, I appreciate the board members’ desire to think creatively to make our college’s alumni association relevant and active. There are some exciting new intiatives coming so be on the lookout.
I don’t know what retirement will look like but I do know this….there are many places I want to visit and memories to make with my granddaughters and their parents. And, I am fortunate to have my health so it’s time to start checking items off my bucket list.
Many thanks to those of you who enabled me to have the experience of a lifetime at a fantastic college and university. I will treasure my time here and I hope our paths will cross again going forward.
