Gaylord College Public Relations Student Completes Prestigious USGA Internship

Gaylord College public relations student Zoe Grant completed her internship in the United States Golf Association (USGA)’s Pathways Internship Program, held during the recent 2023 U.S. Open Championship.

Designed as a 10-day intensive experience, the USGA's Pathways Internship Program offers an inclusive and welcoming environment in the world of golf. This program  introduces students from underrepresented communities to the expansive career opportunities within the golf industry.

Grant was one of 20 participants selected from a competitive pool of more than 300 international applicants. This year, the program saw a surge in female representation, with women making up more than 50% of the cohort.

Grant and her fellow interns experienced a comprehensive curriculum that included professional development, networking sessions and hands-on opportunities at the Los Angeles Country Club. Interns were also tasked with developing a strategy for creating lasting community impact at U.S. Open host locations. Grant was part of the winning pitch team.

"Emerging as the winners of the campaign pitch competition, in front of esteemed USGA executives, profoundly reaffirmed my passion for golf. This internship not only bolstered my confidence but also opened my eyes to the vast array of possibilities within the broader sports industry. Now, I am resolutely assured that I possess the knowledge and experience required to actively pursue my dream career," Grant expressed.
