Feel the fear, and do it anyway.
Analyse Jester is a journalism senior from Broken Arrow with a minor in marketing. Jester has experience as a marketing and programming intern at Guthrie Green and as a communications assistant at Gaylord College.
The fashion world descended upon New York from Feb. 9-14, and Oklahoma was well represented. That's right. Oklahoma. Gaylord News reporters Lisa Maslovskaya and Analyse Jester went to the Big Apple to introduce us to three Oklahomans who are there to help cover the big event.
As the University of Oklahoma honors our veterans we give thanks to those who served for our freedom. Gaylord College has the privilege of featuring two veteran students, Nancy Hooper and Amber Alumpe. both served in the United States Air Force and are now pursuing careers in professional writing.
Students at Lindsey + Asp, Gaylord's student-led PR and Advertising agency, have launched social media campaigns to support mental health awareness. Starting in Fall 2022, Lindsey + Asp decided to team up with The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) to help support students with mental health. Continuing their partnership through the 2023 school year, Lindsey + Asp conducted research to find the best ways to reach out to Gen Z.
Gaylord College annually presents 16 graduating students with the Outstanding Senior Award. Noelle Stark, a senior advertising major, is receiving Gaylord College’s 2023 Advertising Outstanding Senior Award. This award is given to students who show great leadership skills and achievements during their time at Gaylord.
As Sooner football got ready for its spring game, Gaylord students kicked into full gear, preparing for not only the game, but the Kyler Murray Heisman statue reveal. There were many ways Gaylord students got involved in Sooner sports, from on-campus to internships outside the university.
Kathy Johnson, the McMahon Centennial Professor at Gaylord College, makes a special effort to recognize strong women in the profession. Her position also allows her to invite media professionals to work directly with Gaylord students and help them build professional skills in broadcast journalism.
Armand McCoy, executive director and faculty advisor of Lindsey + Asp, continues his career at Gaylord College. Starting at OU in March of 2022, McCoy has been in connection with the university for more than 10 years. McCoy comes to Gaylord from Trifecta Communications, where he served as president and COO. During his time there he had many interactions with faculty and students at Gaylord, especially Lindsey + Asp.
Claudia Benge, a Junior at OU, is headed to Texas for the Red River Rivalry. Interning for OU Athletic Communications since spring 2022, Benge is excited for the opportunity to work one of the biggest football games of the year. She will be working along with interns and full time communications staff.
