The University of Oklahoma Norman Campus has closed most activities for the remainder of the semester, so we will need to cancel the 2020 Horn Day. We hope you will be able to join us for the 2021 Horn Day, which will be in the spring. Check back later for the exact date.

Each year, Dr. Eldon Matlick hosts Oklahoma Horn Day at Catlett. This event is an all-day workshop featuring performance opportunities, clinics, and concerts. The 2021 workshop will take place in the spring (exact date TBD). This year's featured guest artist will be Jacquelyn Adams.

Jacquelyn Adams enjoys an exciting career focused on “regular time-honored horn player pursuits – orchestra playing, university teaching, and freelancing – but she has other creative visions and abilities that are rare by themselves and practically unheard of in a professional horn player”. –The Horn Call

She is principal horn of the Pensacola Symphony, Meridian Symphony, and Gulf Coast Symphony; she is also third horn with the Mobile Symphony. Additional orchestral experience includes performances with IRIS Orchestra, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Fort Worth Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, Delaware Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Albany Symphony, Princeton Symphony, and the National Symphony of the Dominican Republic. Adams has performed as the featured soloist at Canada’s Sixth International Horn Day, The Cusco Music Festival, The White Mountains Music Festival, and with the Meridian Symphony and Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra, as well as numerous horn intensive workshops. Most recently, she is a current member of the Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse.

She has premiered multiple solos for horn including Solomento by Charles Waters, Heavy Mettle by Wayne Lu, and Radiant Dances concerto for horn and string orchestra by James Naigus.

Adams has performed with world-renowned artists Kanye West, Luciano Pavarotti, Linda Eder, and Mac McAnally. A former New York City resident, her on-Broadway experience includes Beauty and the Beast, South Pacific, West Side Story, Lion King, and Legally Blonde Television and movie appearances include CBS’s The Early Show, Disney’s Step Up 3D, and BET’s Music Awards 2007. A founding member of horn quartet Genghis Barbie, Adams made her radio debut with the quartet LIVE on WFMU Radio’s Seven Second Delay, placed 3rd in WNYC’s Battle of the Boroughs, and performed at the International Horn Symposium 43. She has also toured nationally with The Four Hornsmen horn quartet and is a guest artist with Seraph Brass. Recordings include Genghis Barbie’s self-titled debut album, David Byrne and St. Vincent’s Love This Giant, Astor Piazzolla’s Oblivion, Aaron Copland’s Clarinet Concerto with grammy-nominated chamber ensemble A Far Cry, and numerous NFL Films productions. Music festivals include Bard Summerscape Opera Festival, American Institute of Musical Studies at Graz, Colorado College Summer Festival, and The White Mountains Music Festival.

Adams attended the University of North Texas before earning degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music, Yale University, and State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is currently the Assistant Professor of Horn at The University of Southern Mississippi. Additional faculty experience includes teaching positions at Lehman College, Darton State College, Troy University, University of West Florida, and Kendall Betts Horn Camp.
