Serving as Interim Director of Percussion Activities, Dr. Andrew Richardson coordinates all aspects of the percussion program including teaching Applied Percussion, directing the OU Percussion Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble, supervising the OU Steel Band and Percussion Methods course, and teaching other percussion-related courses. Dr. Richardson also serves as Editor of the OU Percussion Press. He has given performances and clinics at Missouri Western State University, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, East Central University, Oklahoma State University, James Madison University, as well as several high schools in Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia. An active member of the Percussive Arts Society, Dr. Richardson is currently the president of the Oklahoma Chapter of PAS and has presented at the Virginia and Oklahoma PAS Days of Percussion. On the national stage, he has performed and presented at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy, and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. Dr. Richardson performs regularly with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and has performed with the Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra, Norman Philharmonic, and Sooner Theatre. Additionally, he regularly performs in the OKC metro as a soloist and chamber musician and is active in commissioning new music for percussion. Dr. Richardson has articles published by Percussive Notes and his most recent composition is available through Tapspace Publications.
