The Arts Management and Entrepreneurship Programs

The Arts Management and Entrepreneurship (AME) Undergraduate Minor, Graduate Certificate in Arts Management & Entrepreneurship , and Online MA in Arts Management, at the University of Oklahoma, are programs designed for students interested in building a career in the arts in an exciting and ever-changing marketplace. Online MA in Arts Management

The OU Online M.A. in Arts Management offers convenience and flexibility for students working full-time. The 100% online curriculum positions graduates for career advancement and leadership in art business, art education, art management, contract writing and negotiation, for-profit and nonprofit management, financial management and budgeting, marketing, project management, organizational leadership, and more.

 

Online MA in Arts Management: 30 Credit Hours

Take six core courses of the following:

  • AMGT 5013 Overview of Arts Management and Entrepreneurship
  • AMGT 5033 Entrepreneurial Mindset in the Arts
  • AMGT 5223 Marketing in the Arts
  • AMGT 5233 Financial Management and Budgeting in the Arts
  • AMGT 5263 Fundraising and Development in the Arts
  • AMGT 5243 Leadership and Strategic Thinking in the Arts 

In addition, choose two electives of the following:

  • DRAM G4853 Theatre Management
  • AMGT 5283 The Global Art Market
  • AMGT 5173 Artists Management
  • AMGT 5273 Innovative Approaches to Museum Leadership

In addition, choose two practicum of the following:*

  • AMGT 5030 Internship
  • AMGT 5213 Arts Incubation Lab
  • AMGT 5990 Special Topics

Graduate Certificate in Arts Management & Entrepreneurship

The Graduate Certificate in Arts Management & Entrepreneurship is designed for maximum flexibility to meet the needs of various tracks in arts entrepreneurial activity. Offered in collaboration with the Price College of Business, the #1 Business School in Oklahoma. It is very affordable, a great value, and can be completed 100% remotely.

The Graduate Certificate will help you combine your creative and artistic talents with business knowledge, skills, and strategies to establish and manage ventures related to the arts. Example of activities can range from starting a gallery, a theater company, a dance studio, a music production company, or a craft business. It can also involve freelance work, consulting, and other entrepreneurial endeavors in the arts sector.

Graduate Certificate Application Process

Application Deadline: Rolling Admissions

To be eligible for the Arts Management and Entrepreneurship Graduate Certificate, applicants must complete the online application along with the supplementary materials and be admitted to the graduate program through the Office of Graduate Admissions.

 

Submit an Addition of Program Request via the Graduate College website: Addition of Program.

The following materials must be uploaded to the online application:

  • Resume
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Academic transcript from your last degree-granting institution
  • Personal Statement
    1. Explain why you want to pursue the Arts Management and Entrepreneurship Graduate Certificate. What are your career goals and how can this program assist you in achieving them?
    2. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What are some ways you will get there?

Submit the University of Oklahoma Application for Graduate Admission form. The following materials must be uploaded to the online application:

  • Resume
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Personal Statement
    1. Explain why you want to pursue the Arts Management and Entrepreneurship Graduate Certificate. What are your career goals and how can this program assist you in achieving them?
    2. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What are some ways you will get there?
  • Transcripts: Upload a copy of transcripts from your last degree-granting institution. Official copies should also be sent directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Graduate Credits for Undergraduate Students

Undergraduates in their junior or senior year who are interested in pursuing the Arts Management and Entrepreneurship Certificate Program may apply for graduate credit towards the program. If accepted, you gain the program director’s recommendation to earn graduate credit in courses fulfilling the certificate program requirements. However, as an undergraduate, this does not constitute an immediate offer of admission to the graduate certificate program. The graduate certificate may only be conferred after you have been admitted to the program and you have completed coursework while in the graduate certificate program code.

Undergraduate students in their junior and senior year.

Students must have a minimum overall and University of Oklahoma grade point average 3.0 in order to be eligible to receive graduate credit.

Once you have received the program director's recommendation, contact the Curiculum Advisor, Elizabeth Nunley (elizabeth.nunley@ou.edu) for assistance. She will guide you through the approval process for the desired graduate courses and request forms required by the Graduate College.


Undergraduate Minor

The Arts Management and Entrepreneurship Undergraduate Minor is a program offered to undergraduate students who are interested in learning the business and entrepreneurship skills needed to apply their creativity to their careers.
