Kaitlin (Kait) Pericak joined the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in August 2024. Within this department, she is part of the Adult and Higher Education program and Intercollegiate Athletic Administration (IAA) concentration area. Before OU, Pericak worked for three years at North Carolina Wesleyan University as an Assistant Professor of Sociology and an Assistant Coach for the Women's Lacrosse program.

Pericak received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Miami (UM) where she was formally trained in two specialty areas 1) medical sociology and 2) race, ethnicity, and immigration studies. During her time at UM, she also worked in the university athletic department and coached high school and club girls' lacrosse in Miami. Pericak received her B.A. and M.A. in Sociology from American University. She was a member of the NCAA DI Women's Lacrosse program during her undergraduate studies and the Club Women's Ice Hockey program during her Master's.

Pericak's research uses the case of sport to further examine issues related to health, gender, race/ethnic relations, and migration/immigration through an intersectional lens. Her research utilizes critical and interpretive theories and quantitative and qualitative methods to study these inequities in the sport institution.
