OU-Tulsa campus Early Childhood Education bachelor's completion program

Why choose OU-Tulsa's ECE Program?

  • All upper-division courses required for the bachelor's degree and certification program are offered on the Schusterman campus.  The evening/occasional weekend format helps meet the needs of students with work and family demands.  Full- and half-time study available.
  • The program builds on education gained at Tulsa Community College or other two- and four-year colleges.
  • OU-Tulsa's program has a unique focus on young children from birth through age 8.
  • Students may participate in the George Kaiser Family Foundation Loan Forgiveness Program which provides for an in-state tuition waiver from the University of Oklahoma and allows students to borrow money to pay for their fees and books from the George Kaiser Family Foundation.  For each year of full-time work in early childhood education in a licensed facility in Oklahoma after graduation, the loan is reduced by 25 percent; therefore, the loan is erased after four years of full-time work in any licensed early childhood education setting in Oklahoma.  Full- and half-time students qualify.

  • The Early Childhood Education Institute offers unique service, outreach and research experience opportunities.

  • Several field experiences at sites such as CAP, Educare, public schools, and private schools are an integral part of the bachelor’s completion program where students gain experience working directly with young children.

A Focus on Very Young Children

The Early Childhood Education program prepares students to teach children through the third grade. In addition, students participating in the program on the OU-Tulsa Campus will have a particular focus on working with very young children (birth to age 8) and their families, in a variety of settings.
