DISC Hosts Meet and Greet for Machine Learning and Big Data in the Social Sciences

A multidisciplinary group of researchers from the undergraduate to faculty level assembled in the Oklahoma Memorial Union on October 3 to explore how machine learning can be used in conjunction with traditional statistical methods for data analysis of datasets that span the social and natural sciences.

Led by Heather Bedle, Martin Piotroski and Chris Garneau, this community of practice will also facilitate joint research with the use of big data techniques to improve understanding of social structures as they relate to OU's strategic verticals - from climate and the environment to social injustice, and other dynamic quality of life challenges.
