Instructor Positions

Teaching Foundations for College Learning is an opportunity for dedicated faculty, staff, and administrators to help our newest students learn how to successfully navigate OU and build a strong foundation for collegiate success.  Instructors are responsible for addressing common topics such as learning strategies, higher-level thinking, time-management, academic responsibility, major and career selection, social and emotional intelligence, campus involvement, university policies and resources, and personal wellness.  Through this letter-graded, two-credit-hour elective course, instructors also have an opportunity to share other areas of expertise by teaching a related FOCUS section of the course.

Prospective instructors should have a master’s degree or higher, be knowledgeable of university programs, services, and resources, have prior experience teaching and/or working with university students, and be able to commit time to supporting first-year students as this role requires.

Applications for fall 2024 are available now at https://ousurvey.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eMcsepqVTg6saa2 and will close at noon on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Applicants who have not taught Foundations for College Learning previously must complete an interview in addition to the application submission. Returning instructors may be asked to interview as well. In addition, mandatory training sessions will be required for all eligible new instructors.

New instructor applicants are required to attend one of the new instructor workshops on either Friday, May 3 or Saturday, May 4.

All instructors are required to attend the annual instructor conference held on Tuesday, May 7. In addition, instructors will be required to attend at least two 1-hour supplemental trainings from a suite of trainings over various topics held at various times throughout the summer. In addition, all instructors are asked to attend a summer training and the Class Kick-Off event in August.
