Ondria Gleason, MD, FAPA, FAPM

Interim Dean

Dr. Gleason is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine in Tulsa. She received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Nebraska. She completed her residency in Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. She is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with subspecialty certification in Psychosomatic Medicine. She has received additional training in academic medicine administration through her participation in the Program for Chiefs of Clinical Services at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.

Dr. Gleason joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Tulsa in 1998. She served for 10 years as the Director of the Psychiatry Residency Program and as Director of the OU Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Service. She has served on numerous university and college committees, including previously chairing the Graduate Medical Education Committee. She currently sits on the Executive Committee of the Faculty Board. Her clinical and research interests lie at the interface of medicine and psychiatry, particularly in the area of hepatitis C and depression, bipolar disorder and delirium. She is a past recipient of the New Clinical Drug Evaluation Unit’s New Investigator Award sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health.

After serving as Vice Chair and later, Interim Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine, she was named Chair of the department in 2008. She is past President of both the Tulsa Psychiatric Association and the Oklahoma Psychiatric Physicians Association and serves on the Executive Council of the American Academy of Chairs of Departments of Psychiatry. She has been distinguished as a fellow of the American Psychiatry Association and of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. Dr. Gleason was selected by her peers as one of the Best Doctors in America for the last three years.
