OKC, Okla. - LMS Transition

In 2023, the IT Executive Steering Committee tasked the Teaching and Learning Technologies Advisory Committee to transition the learning management system for HSC programs from Brightspace by D2L to Canvas.

The transition will provide several benefits, including a more intuitive and user-friendly interface, enhanced collaboration tools, and a robust mobile experience. In addition, the transition will result in a single, unified LMS for all OU faculty, students, and staff.

The decision to switch to the Canvas LMS comes from a continuity need, as Canvas has been used in Norman programs since 2016 and the desire to take advantage of the modern, dynamic platform.

Currently, faculty/staff and students in HSC programs can access Canvas to learn the program. Though not all courses have transitioned, some have already been transitioned to Canvas. Users are encouraged to go ahead and log in to learn the software and discover any questions they may have.

The goal of the TLTAC team is that the total transition to Canvas will be completed Summer 2024 where then Brightspace by D2L data archived and the product decommissioned.
