Do you know an outstanding OU student worker? Nominate them for the Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) award. Details are below, and the nomination deadline is this Friday, Jan. 27.
The Student Employee of the Year award allows OU staff and faculty to recognize student employees at the institutional level.
“Student employees are the gears that make the university run,” said Brad Burnett, OU’s associate vice president for Enrollment Management and director of Financial Aid. “They feed, guide, advise, tutor and support nearly every administrative function on campus. Student employees graduate with critical skills such as completing an employment application, participating in a job interview and the knowledge of how to add value to their employer.”
Nominees can add this credential to their resumes. Each nominee will receive a certificate of nomination, an invitation to the SEOTY Banquet the second week of April and a $500 scholarship. The top three nominees will receive a $1,000 scholarship and trophy.
This year, SEOTY criteria is introducing nomination categories, and nominees must fall into one of the following: Community Service, Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership, Technology and Innovation, and Critical Thinking.
To nominate an eligible student, supervisors will need to:
- Submit a letter (two page maximum) which briefly explains why you are submitting the student for recognition, outlines the student’s accomplishments and work contributions in the past year, and explains how students exhibit National Association of Colleges and Employers competencies in their positions.
- Submit a cover letter with the student’s name, email address, headshot, job title, and department, along with the supervisor’s name and email.
Please submit both documents by emailing a copy to workstudyprogram@ou.edu. Nominations are due by noon on Friday, Jan. 27.
The 2022-2023 OU SEOTY nominees will be announced during OU Student Employee Week, April 10-14, 2023.
