Minigolf, Mexican food, a silent auction and fun with friends on a Friday night – all in support of a library? That’s a recipe for a hole in one!

The Schusterman Library on the OU-Tulsa campus hosted this entertaining scenario in celebration of its 10th anniversary.

“The Schusterman Library wanted an opportunity to celebrate our anniversary, give people a fun evening, as well as support the important work we do for students and the community,” said Stewart Brower, director of the Schusterman Library. “The Schusterman Library MiniGolf Open was just the event to achieve our goals. Our patrons had a good time and supported us generously, and the students got the chance to have fun in the stacks beyond study time.”

In addition to raising funds to support the library, attendees had the opportunity to play minigolf, eat and bid on items such as books, gift cards, art, event tickets to the Tulsa Ballet and Tulsa Opera, and nights out at local restaurants, among other offerings.

On-campus departments and student and staff organizations also had the opportunity to adopt a fairway for decoration and submit their creation for judging in a contest. They built challenging obstacles and created fun signage to personalize their hole and showcase research, projects and achievements. Students were invited to play the minigolf course on Saturday for free and vote on their favorite fairway.
