OU-Tulsa Schusterman Library Goes High Tech with Tour

The Schusterman Library at OU-Tulsa has a wide array of supports and services to offer students and faculty on campus, but often these amenities go unutilized.

The library has reference material and reference librarians, but also everything from treadmill desks, private workstations, and study rooms, to scanners and a One Button Studio, where faculty, staff or students can record lectures or projects in an easy-to-use format.

The task of spreading the word about all these perks is vast, and, as library leadership learned, a video can be worth a thousand words, so to speak.

One way that new students and employees are clued in to the library’s offerings is through orientations held by the various colleges and Human Resources. But often all this information is presented at one time, and during an already overwhelming orientation process, can be easy to forget.

“We found that people still were unaware of all that can be accomplished at the library, and students and faculty alike would be surprised when I told them later,” said Stewart Brower, Schusterman Library director. “I often heard that they wished they had known sooner.”

To help spread awareness of Schusterman Library resources, library management worked with the OU-Tulsa marketing and communications team to develop a video highlighting all the ways OU-Tulsa community members can utilize their library. Now, after a shorter orientation presentation, those new to the campus can reference the video to be reminded of all that the library has to offer.
