OU Partners with United Way to Make a Difference Across the State
OU faculty, staff and students are making a difference in communities across Oklahoma by donating to United Way. Learn how you can help by reading the campus-specific information below.
Norman Campus
OU’s annual campaign to benefit United Way of Norman began on Oct. 1 and will continue until Dec. 15 – giving us just over two months to make a difference.
Donations to United Way of Norman help more than 61,000 people each year, including members of the university family. Families who need help finding food and housing. Children dealing with the aftermath of abuse. People struggling with addiction. People who need our support to get them back on their feet. Giving changes everything. Help us fight for better education, financial stability and health for every person in the Norman and OU community.
Ways You Can Help:
- Make Your Pledge: Even $1 makes a difference! Here are three easy ways to give between now and Dec. 15 (payroll deductions are an option):
- Online: Donate online at https://www.unitedwaynorman.org/ou.
- Phone: Call the United Way office at (405) 329-2025 and make your pledge by phone with the United Way of Norman team.
- Mail: Mail in your gift to 2424 Springer Dr., Ste 304, Norman, OK 73069.
- Invite the United Way of Norman to You: If your department is having an upcoming staff meeting and would be willing to have a United Way of Norman representative and/or agency member or client briefly stop by (in-person or virtual) to discuss the importance and impact of the campaign, email Kathy Holder at kholder@unitedway-norman.org.
- Get Your Department Involved: Having fun is often the best way to promote giving. Departments can get involved by hosting creative activities like a bake sale, potluck meal, chili cookoff, auction and more. If your department has an event coming up, email details to unitedwaycampaign@ou.edu to have your event featured on the OU United Way website.
Health Sciences Center
The United Way of Central Oklahoma is helping to build a resilient, healthy and inclusive community by rigorously investing in approximately 101 programs at 53 different partner agencies. The United Way campaign on the OU Health Sciences Center campus will be taking place in the month of November. OU Health Sciences Center employees can donate by using a convenient, direct link that will be sent directly from United Way. More information will be coming soon.
OU-Tulsa
The OU-Tulsa campus will hold their annual Tulsa Area United Way campaign the week of Oct. 24. The fun week of fundraising will kick off on Monday, Oct. 24, with a short video distributed campus-wide about the importance of supporting the United Way. Be watching for more information coming soon about ways to make contribution easy and fun, as well as exciting events to participate in with your colleagues. Some of the events will include pumpkin painting, pumpkin grams to share with friends, a visit from Professor Paws and his friends from Comfort Canines, and lots of opportunities to eat.
Ways You Can Help:
- Make Your Pledge: Be watching for your pledge card coming the week of Oct. 24. Fill it out and return it for the easiest way to give.
- Participate During United Way Week: Plan to participate in some or all of the fun events at the end of October.
