Those graduating With Distinction wear a gold hood with their gown.

The With Distinction degree designation is conferred by the student’s degree-granting college.

Each college has established unique requirements for graduating With Distinction and With Special Distinction. Distinction is based primarily on the student’s grade point average. Both the transcript and the diploma carry the designation. The student’s academic records will be reviewed for anticipated distinction based on grade point average at the end of the semester prior to participating in graduation ceremonies. Students may wear the gold Academic Distinction hood based on this anticipated status. Graduating With Distinction or With Special Distinction is granted once all grades have been posted and degrees have been cleared. The final semester of academic work will be factored in and distinction will be granted, adjusted, or removed based on this calculation. Contact your academic advisor for specific requirements and questions.

Academic Distinction hoods can be purchased during Josten's Tabling Events in March or the Jostens store in the Sooner Shop (located in the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium 1185 Asp Avenue, Norman, OK 73069 ) starting on April 7.
