Hjalti H. Sigmarsson
Hjalti H. Sigmarsson received the B.S.E.C.E. and M.S.E.C.E., degrees in 2003 and 2005 from University of Iceland, Reykjavik and Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, respectively. He completed the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, in May 2010.
He was a postdoctoral research associate in the IDEAS (Integrated Design of Electromagnetically-Applied Systems) Laboratory at Purdue University from 2010 to 2011. His primary focus was on advancing the state-of-the-art tunable filter technology for ultra-sensitive receivers.
In January 2012, he joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Oklahoma as an assistant professor. His current research interests include reconfigurable RF and microwave hardware for agile communications, measurement, and radar systems, spectral management schemes for cognitive radio architectures, advanced packaging utilizing heterogeneous integration techniques, and device development for engineered organic and inorganic nanomaterials.
He was a co-founder and former president of the Purdue University International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS) student chapter and a co-founder of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) Student Branch Chapter at Purdue University. He is currently a member of MTT-S and IMAPS.
Dr. Sigmarsson was a member of a team that received recognition for outstanding technical contribution to phase I of the DARPA Analog Spectral Processors (ASP) program in 2008. He was awarded the best paper of the IMAPS 2008 41st International Symposium on Microelectronics and the outstanding student paper of the IMAPS 2009 42nd International Symposium on Microelectronics. He was also awarded the best paper of the Microwave and RF Applications session at the both the 2008 and the 2009 IMAPS International Symposium on Microelectronics.
