Commencement Processional Instructions
The University-wide Commencement ceremony will begin when the graduates process onto the field accompanied by flags, banners and music.
Students should dress in business casual attire and wear their cap and gown. As a matter of safety, we do not recommend that students wear stiletto heels to the Commencement ceremony. Students will be crossing the football field and may find it difficult to walk safely on the soft turf.
Graduates will receive the following while waiting for the processional to begin:
- an OU Alumni pin
- a special surprise for the end of the ceremony
Security Information
The University of Oklahoma has introduced a clear bag policy and walk-through metal detectors at all Athletics facilities.
Metal detectors will be located at each entrance for guests and graduates. Guests and graduates will empty cell phones, keys and metal objects larger than keys from their pockets before screening.
The approved clear plastic bag size is a maximum of 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag. All bags are subject to search, although it is anticipated that search times will decrease significantly.
