Advising for Computer Science Minors

The minors for Computer Science and Computational Technology are also advised by Kourtney Cortez (A-F) and Yura Jung (G-Z).

Advising for Accelerated Program Students

If an Accelerated B.S./M.S. degree in Computer Science is pursued, the B.S. portion and shared coursework will be advised by the WSSC (in consultation with the CS Academic Program Coordinator), while the M.S. portion will be advised by the faculty indicated by emailing cs@cs.ou.edu.

Graduate Advising

It is strongly encouraged that communication for advisement is conducted as soon as it is available to the student, and during the Fall or Spring semesters if applicable. Please note that the designated graduate advising individuals will be busy and it may take some time to respond.

New/Continuing Masters (M.S.) Student Advising

For formal advisement, online and traditional masters students must email the CS office (cs@ou.edu) and the appropriate faculty will be contacted.

This includes Accelerated B.S./M.S. students who are fully into the M.S. portion of the accelerated degree.

Degree Checklists

It is imperative that graduate students adhere to their degree checklists:

Once a graduate student has been fully and officially admitted to a graduate program (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, tthe student must reach out to the department (cs@ou.edu) for guidance on formal advisement and course progression in the degree.

New/Continuing Doctoral (Ph.D.) Student Advising

Ph.D. students must contact the faculty member who will be their dissertation/research chairperson for formal advisement.  If no faculty member has been determined to be the chairperson, email the CS office at (cs@ou.edu) to contact the appropriate faculty.

Graduate College Forms and Deadlines

It is also important to understand the expected timeline/forms set forth and managed by the Graduate College:
