Creating User Profiles

If there is more than one person who uses the copy Communicator on your computer, or if just one person has several accounts and wants to access them

individually, you can create individual user profiles so that each user’s e-mail address, bookmarks, address book, stored messages, and preferences are kept

separated.

To create a user profile:

1. Open the User Profile Manager. Its shortcut should be available in the Utilities folder inside the Netscape Communicator folder on your Start menu. (figure 2.1)

The Profile Manager window appears. (figure 2.2)

2. Click New to create a new profile. (figure 2.3) The New Profile Setup dialog box appears. Read the instructions, enter any necessary information, and click next until you’ve finished creating the profile. The Profile Manager quits automatically when it’s finished gathering information.

Click Delete to remove a profile. (figure 2.4)

Click rename to rename a profile. (figure 2.5)

Choosing a user profile:

You have to select a user profile each time you open Communicator so the program knows which e-mail address, bookmarks, and other personalized settings it should offer you.

Once you’ve created more than one profile, Communicator automatically asks you to choose one when you launch the program. Simply choose the desired profile and click Start Communicator (figure 2.6). Your personal settings will be loaded.
