Please give a short, but helpful, response to each of the following.
(refer to the student answers listed below).

7. Point out what you feel to be the strong points of the course.
  • It tells me how to do each assignment step by step and the instructions are quite clear.
  • We learn to make our own home page.
  • Ability to "attend class" at any time during the day instant feedback students helping each other emphasis on originality and creativity.
  • The knowledge gained and the Instructors professionalism tempered with humor. I would take any course offered or overseen by this Instructor!
  • Allowing the homework to reflect how much the students know and are able to learn. Very important, the instruction got a feel of the class and assigned homework accordingly.
  • The new technique of teaching by email is very convenience. You can get help from the teacher, assistances, or even classmates.  I found it very helpful at all times.
  • The instructor was very willing to work with students. He went out of his way to do so in many cases.
  • The ability to be involved in class no matter where you are.
  • Instructor gave detailed assignments/instruction. Talked in a normal vocabulary that I understood coming from little computer vocabulary.
  • I really liked the fact that the learning was done so independently.  We were able to work at our own paces.
  • Practical useful knowledge student defined pace and scope.
  • Do not have to attend lecture.
  • I gain more knowledge about computer especially using netscape.
  • makes one intimately familiar with Netscape software.
  • I enjoyed being able to work at my own pace. Even though we didn't

  • meet face to face, I still learned alot about the Internet.
  • This is a very affective class and is very usefull, but do to network problems with the Univeristy of Oklahomas shortege of dial up connections and latency I had problems.  Often I could not ftp my work because of the Universitys Connections.  Overall we can overcome the Problems above, this is a great class. Maybe the University could spend some of the $ going to the other places and kick up our connection slots and connect speed.
  • Knowing more about the computer language.
  • Good instruction, great subject matter.
  • I felt that the part that was laid out for us was easy to follow, and complete. It is very effective at teaching students who are unfamiliar with the Internet learn to use the Internet by two means - Instruction and Practice. The very nature of the class being taught through the web gives us plenty of practice to get used to the Internet and  specificially the world wide web.
  • The challenging assignments, kept the course from being boring.

8. Suggest any improvements you would like to see made in the course.
  • Probably, the class should meet more than once.
  • Clearer instruction.
  • All assignments listed in advance. More ability to work ahead.
  • Offer the course over Internet in many, many classes. In other words, the class it's self couldn't be inmproved on in my opinion but the university could use this Instructor to teach other classes or oversee others teaching via the net.
  • What do we do if we want to continue to have a webpage?
  • I believe the class was very well organized. One thing it will be helpful is the content or the assignments. It will be nice if it can be more detail with more information about the assignments. Not all of them but the Group assignments.  It kind of got confuse at the end of the class. Either an individual or group project.
  • None.
  • The instructions should be more clear and everybody shouldn't be allowed to "do their own thing." More people will participate when they have to.
  • Didn't like the group project thing, but liked having peer support groups.
  • (no response)
  • No assignments.
  • (no response)
  • (no response)
  • Get entire outline at beginning of course.
  • More clarification about how grading is done and what is expected.
  • University servers need to be upgraded.
  • None.
  • There is a lot of work for a 1000 level course, perphaps make it a 2000, or 3000 level.
  • I think that the groups should have more focused goals and topics to choose from. Maybe assigned topics. It is hard to work as a group with no focus. I can see how you intend the class to work in groups, but I think that my particular group failed because of the lack of focus, and the inability of some to use the internet asefficiently as others.
  • None comes to mind at this time, however this was my first computer class so as I become more comfortable with the world of computers, I'm sure I'll have many.

9. Give any suggestions you may have to help the instructors
improve their teaching.
  • None
  • (no response)
  • See above.
  • Keep up the humor, he made the class 100% enjoyable.
  • I feel everything can be done over the internet. Only suggestion I have is to continue to look at your class and reflect homework and assignments accordingly. Good job!
  • I believe that overall, the class was very well taught.  As I mention in #8. It will help to be more specific on the assignments specially on the projects or group / individual projects.
  • None.
  • Be more clear as to what you want us to do.
  • Meet again with the class a second time after it is over with to recap and meet the people who assisted me so much.
  • (no response)
  • (no response)

  • Write clearer instructions.
  • None I can think of. You were always available when needed.
  • Maybe to creat a chat page for students to meat on.... I tried this and no one ever came to my chat room.
  • Make sure everyone enrolls in the course by the deadline. It was confusing when new people were joining once the class had already started.
  • None.
  • I really don't know any right now.
  • None, the professor was informative, humorous and patient.

10. Did you work at home, or at school or both?

  • Had to work at another campus and once and awhile was able to use computer at work for short period of time during the day. That was the most difficult thing for me being limited due to not having a personal computer available to me at home and at work for the most part.

  • I can say that I've gained more practice in using the internet. Hopefully, I have protrayed that I was a competent Internet User.

Q3_rate_instructors: excellent
Q4_teaching_techniques: good
Q5_rate_instructors: good
Q6_course_workload: average
Q7_strongpoints: I felt that the part that was laid out for us was easy to follow, and complete.
It is very effective at teaching students who are unfamiliar with the Internet learn to use the
Internet by two means - Instruction and Practice. The very nature of the class being taught through
the web gives us plenty of practice to get used to the Internet and  specificially the
world wide web.
Q8_improvements: I think that the groups should have more focused goals and topics to
choose from. Maybe assigned topics. It is hard to work as a group with no focus. I can
see how you intend the class to work in groups, but I think that my particular group
failed because of the lack of focus, and the inability of some to use the internet as
efficiently as others.
Q9_improve_teaching: I really don't know any right now.
Q10_where_worked: At home.
Q11_lesson_time: Less than an hour. (distractions do occur being at home)
Q12_lesson_time: Around 2-3 hours.
Q13_know_more: I can say that I've gained more practice in using the internet. Hopefully,
I have protrayed that I was a competent Internet User.
Q14_use_in_future: Yes, definitely. Internet and the Web is a definite use that will occur
often presently.

Q1_satisfied: yes
Q2_prepared: yes
Q3_rate_instructors: excellent
Q4_teaching_techniques: excellent
Q5_rate_instructors: excellent
Q6_course_workload: heavy
about 3 to 4 hours aday M-F
Q7_strongpoints: The challenging assignments, kept the course from being boring.
Q8_improvements: None comes to mind at this time, however this was my first computer
class so as I become more comfortable with the world of computers, I'm sure I'll have many.
Q9_improve_teaching: None, the professor was informative, humorous and patient.
Q10_where_worked: Had to work at another campus and once and awhile was able to use
computer at work for short period of time during the day. That was the most difficult
thing for me being limited due to not having a personal computer available to me at home
and at work for the most part.
Q11_lesson_time:
Q12_lesson_time: about the same as above 3 to 4 hours aday.
Q13_know_more: That is a loaded question for me personally. I knew nothing about the
working of the internet when I started. So for me any knowledge I was able to obtain, w
as more than I knew when I started, including learning how to send a simple email message....
Q14_use_in_future: Yes, taking this class has shown me that understanding how to use the
computer can help both my personal and professional life. I fully intend on prusuing
other computer classes, until I become as skilled as I can.
Q15_student_major: O.L. at SNU adult studies.
