Debbie Yount holds the Paul D. Massad Endowed Chair in Strategic Planning in the Gaylord College of Journalism & Mass Communications and is a Fellow, University of Oklahoma Center for Intelligence and National Security.
Prior to joining the University of Oklahoma faculty in August 2013, Ms. Yount held the posts of Managing Director, Ascentium Corporation and Chief Client Officer, McCann Worldgroup providing account leadership for the global Microsoft account. She was the first to hold the Chief Holistic Officer title for Publicis Worldwide. In this role, she was responsible for bringing the “path to purchase” to life to uniquely connect shoppers with brands through engagement strategies that involved retailers, distributors and manufacturers.
Debbie served six years as Chairman & CEO of Publicis Dialog USA, the marketing services arm of Publicis Worldwide with seven offices in the U.S. Under Debbie’s leadership, the agency restructured to focus on digital and experiential marketing. Her proven ability to build, run and grow an agency resulted in moving the business from a 33% loss to an 18% profit in two years. Debbie led the team that successfully pitched and won a roster of clients including P&G, General Mills, Bermuda Tourism, Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Sanofi-Aventis, Wyeth and WellPoint Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
She instructs upper level undergraduate and slash-listed graduate courses including: Advertising Campaigns, Advertising Account Planning, International Advertising, Social Media Marketing and Gaylord 360: Storytelling without Walls and provides leadership oversight for Lindsey + Asp, Gaylord’s award-winning student-run advertising and public relations agency. This position leverages four decades as an integrated marketer delivering a “real world” experiential approach to teaching that effectively complements all aspects of conceptual learning. She also serves as Faculty Advisor for Gaylord College’s co-curricular Magazine Interest Group.
