Assistant Professor Samuel Perry is the co-winner the 2019 Distinguished Article Award from the Association for the Sociology of Religion. This award was in recognition of his article (co-authored with Andrew L. Whitehead and Joseph O. Baker), "Make America Christian Again: Christian Nationalism and Voting for Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election." The article, published in Sociology of Religion: A Quarterly Review, is currently among the journal's most downloaded articles ever, and is the most cited article from that journal in recent years.
