POLITICAL SCIENCE CLUB

Purpose

The purpose of the Political Science Club is to provide a forum for undergraduate students who are interested in the study of Political Science at the University of Oklahoma. The mission of the Political Science Club includes informing Political Science and Public Administration majors and minors, as well as other OU Students, of social and academic opportunities within the department and on campus. It also provides information about career paths for which Political Science and Public Administration majors and minors are eligible. The Club also sponsors and/or co-sponsors campus events relevant to its mission. Finally, it provides students a setting in which they can meet and socialize with other students who share the same interests.

PI SIGMA ALPHA

Purpose

Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, is the only honor society for college students of political science and government in the United States. Pi Sigma Alpha is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) and is designated as a "Specialized, Upper-Division" society by ACHS. There are now over 740 chapters of Pi Sigma Alpha located on college and university campuses in every state of the United States and one in Canada. The National Office of Pi Sigma Alpha is located at 1527 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20036.

Qualifications

Must have 12 hours of political science, a 3.00 overall GPA, a 3.00 GPA in the major, and a cumulative 3.00 GPA. For more information and to submit your application, contact Professor Scott Lamothe at slamothe@ou.edu. Additional information is available at Pi Sigma Alpha.


STUDENT ASSOCIATION for PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (SAPA)

Purpose

To further the interests of students majoring in Public Affairs and Administration and to offer extra-curricular activities and a social forum in which important and relevant issues of public management can be discussed and analyzed. Also, SAPA provides information on graduate programs in public administration and public policy topics, aids in career development, and provides information on fellowships, internships, and available jobs.

OU PRE-LAW SOCIETY

Purpose

Pre-Law Society is a group of students with varied backgrounds and majors who are interested in attending law school.  Our meetings offer the opportunity to hear from law school admission officers from around the country, learn from attorneys about their law practice, and meet other students interested in law school.

MODEL UN

Purpose

Model United Nations of the Southwest provides high school and college students with the opportunity to experience the workings of the United Nations and to actively gain first-hand knowledge of international politics.
