Important Announcements:

1. Matt Moynihan is the new Editor. The next edition is scheduled to come out on Sept. 13th, Monday. The deadline for all articles is Sept. 9th, Thursday by 5:00PM.

2. The old May edition is online. You have probably noticed that the last three editions were twelve page editions. If we are able to raise enough funds to print them, then all of the future editions will be twelve pages as well.

3. Here is the new link that compares the Bible and the Book of Mormon. It notes most of the plagiarism committed by the Book of Mormon in taking quotes directly from the King James version of the Bible.

4. If you (student) would like to see the BeaconOU continue and are interested in the films below being shown on campus, send us your full name so that we will have an accurate number of students on our list, beaconou@ou.edu. It only takes seconds, so do it right now.

5. We always welcome "student" submitted articles. If you see news, write about it. Current events and news from or with a Christian perspective are what we need, just as long as there is no 'trash' writing. We want to encourage people, not tear them down. We love to give equal ground to both sides on all topics and we have a proven track record of doing this. Send us an e-mail to get on our e-mail list and receive details or ideas on what to write about, beaconou@ou.edu .

8. JESUS WEEK April 12th- 16th was planned, many students fasted and prayed together!! It has been the best ever. The gospel of Christ is setting students free. If you are interested in purchasing and T-shirt from this year or last year, contact rick777ok@ou.edu .

9. Print Schedule for this semester. This is tentative.

11. All of the BeaconOU Newspaper editions are on-line below. For a list of how many student or faculty articles we had in each of the past editions (click) List of articles. The accusations by Tim Roberts and others made against us in the Daily are very misleading. Here was part of my response. The Daily edited out the part about our web-site having the proof of student articles and information regarding what was actually said in the Budgetary Committee meeting. Over five times in that meeting Tim Roberts made negative reference to our religious purpose and that government funds could not be used to fund a religious service such as our newspaper.

12. www.oyez.org/oyez/resource/case/640/ is another "Christian Perspective" campus newspaper case similar to ours. The University has settled with us. The policies that were unconstitutional and had been applied to the BeaconOU and other organizations in the past will be changed. I hope that in the future there will be checks and balances within student government so that such issues will not occur again. Our Lawsuit Facts official media release.

All of the staff of the BeaconOU are volunteers, including myself. Intern with us and receive valuable jobs skills and experience for your future career. There are some highly needed positions open for advertising and fund-raising, writing, distribution, and some Union table attendants are needed. We are currently raising support in order to print our first edition of the semester, continue, and extend activities of our organization to include college showings of spiritually educating films, such as, America's Godly Heritage, A Nation Adrift, Icons of Evolution , Unlocking the Mystery of Life , Countdown to Eternity, The Messiah: Prophecy Fulfilled, The Indestructible Book, and The Hope . -(click on the film names to view details about film). I have shopped around for the absolute best price and have found that for all of the videos listed above it will cost $192.80, which includes shipping.
