2008 marked the 25th anniversary of the Division of Construction Science as a named program in the OU College of Architecture. The program has earned a national reputation as one of the country’s best programs. Chronological History of the Construction Science Program
A professional program in construction science is authorized.
Professor William Cleverly is hired to start the Construction Science Program, but leaves after one year.
Professor Calin Popescu is hired to head the Construction Science Program.
Professor Harold Conner replaces Dr. Popescu.
The Construction Student Association begins.
Construction Science becomes a named program within the College of Architecture.
A Master of Science Degree in Construction Science is established.
Professor Bill McManus joins the Construction Science faculty.
A third faculty line is established.
The Construction Science Program is fully accredited by the American Council for Construction Education.
Professors Richard Ryan and Ken Robson join the Construction Science faculty.
Professor Conner retires.
The Construction Science Student Club wins the first of eight national awards, including three first-place and five third-place awards.
The Construction Science Commercial Building Student Competition Team wins first of 31 regional awards.
Professor Robson is named Director of the Construction Science Program.
Professor Conner establishes first Construction Science Endowment: the Conner
Division Student Competition Teams win the first of four national awards, including back-to-back Commercial Building Competition National Championships in 2001 and 2002.
Construction Science students win the first of six national all-hands essay competition awards.
Tammy McCuen joins the Construction Science faculty.
The Robert E. Busch Professorship of Construction Science is established.
The OU Club of Construction Science is established.
The Harold W. Conner Professorship of Construction Science is established.
The Construction Science Board of Visitors Professorship of Construction Science is established.
Lisa Holliday joins the Construction Science faculty.
The program is named the Haskell & Irene Lemon Construction Science Division upon receipt of a $3 million gift from the Lemon Family.
The Divison moves back into the newly remodeled Gould Hall.
