My Sooner Legacy...

I hope my legacy is one of the love and kindness I've shown to others. So many people on campus improved my experience at OU, even just from the briefest of interactions. During my time here, I also made positive impacts through the OU Food Pantry. I've served since a freshman, and I spent so much time pouring myself into this organization that serves OU students and faculty in need.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Oklahoma?

I came to OU because of the reputation of the journalism and mass communications department inside the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Before making it to OU, I thought I would eventually transfer, but as soon as I arrived on campus, those plans were no longer in place because of the connections and community I found.

My freshman year saw me getting involved with a lot of organizations, rushing Greek, and even taking on leadership roles. I had a lot of random experiences like helping run a summer camp and competing in Scandals, a student-run Broadway showcase. Those communities, paired with the memories I made, ensured that I never wanted to leave OU behind for my undergraduate experience. I fell in love with the University because the people here are truly special and the opportunities are endless.

What has your OU experience been like?

My experience at OU made me grow in ways I never expected. I’ve competed and placed first in Scandals with my sorority, directed a student organization that helps freshmen build community at OU, and even carved my name on a leadership table in the Student Union twice. There were so many experiences I never expected during my time at the University of Oklahoma, but those experiences are what built some of my best memories.

What does your OU degree mean to you?

My OU degree means a reputation that precedes me; a degree from Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication—which is one of the best colleges to study public relations in the United States. I know that I’m equipped to be successful in the workforce with the knowledge this degree has given me.
