As a student, I worked in the African and African American Studies Department and assisted professors with events. I also participated in the pageant circuit as a contestant and coordinator.
The OU Family is inspiring and welcoming. There are so many amazing people here on campus that truly want to see you succeed. I experienced it first hand when I was a student, and now eight years later, this still rings true!
The moment I felt the greatest Sooner pride was during Freshman Convocation. It was such a proud moment for me to be able to start my journey as a Sooner.
The Grilled Cheese sandwich at Couch Express is legendary.
The greatest gift that I took after graduation was my friends. Being so far from home while at OU allowed me to develop an amazing group of friends who have since become my “family”.
My favorite OU tradition is OU/TX weekend. The weekend is always super fun and sort of serves as a mini reunion. Beating Texas is always the icing on the cake!
One piece of encouragement I would give to a student applying to college is to visit the campuses you’re interested in attending. Visiting a campus allows you to get a real feel for what it’s like to be a student there. When I visited OU for the first time, I instantly knew it was the place for me.
